Daylight And Darkness: Episode 258. Preludes

  When we stopped writing, many things were beginning to unfold in Adam's Landing, Unity, Valley Ridge, as many stories were stopped while in motion. Now we pick up Daylight And Darkness, one month later.

    It's New Year's Eve night in Adam's Landing, and at City Hospital, Beth sits inside her office, as Bobby walks inside with a bottle of champagne, and asks Beth "I thought we were going for a quiet dinner at La Trattoria? That was our plan Boss." Beth takes a deep breath, and asks Bobby, jumping to the point "You sure seem dead set on our date?" Bobby sits down at Beth's desk, as he pulls out two glasses, and tells her "Well we've really grown close recently, and I wanted to do this somewhere instead of City Hospital, but well.." Beth asks "Well?" Bobby pulls a small box out of his pocket, as Beth is quiet, and Bobby asks Beth "I wanted to ask you if you'd marry me. I got Xavier's permission." Beth quips "Why would you need Xavier's permission, of course I'd marry you." Beth walks over to Bobby, as she kisses him, and he places a gold, diamond ring on her finger, as Beth looks at it in awe, and tells Bobby "It means so much to me Bobby, you've been my rock with all that's went on, and I don't know what I'd done had it not been for you." Bobby looks at Beth, and assures her "Boss, I'm going nowhere." Beth and Bobby holds each other, as Beth gets a page, to the emergency room, and snaps "Damnit." Bobby asks "Rachel again?" Beth rolls her eyes, and tells her fiancee "Most likely, this is that bitch's second home." Downstairs in the Emergency Room, a pregnant Rachel, yells at the nurse "I demand Dr.North." The nurse turns around, and looks at Rachel, as she goes "Who in the hell are you to order me around? I'm not scared of you." Olivia walks inside, as Rachel looks at her Aunt, and goes "This nurse needs to be fired." Olivia glares at her niece, as she tells the Nurse "I'll deal with Rachel." Rachel snarks at the nurse "I won't mention that you tried to attack me." The nurse turns around as she goes after Rachel, as Olivia holds the nurse back, as Beth walks in and coldly tells Rachel "Go back home you whore."
   At Hell Hill, Xavier sits inside his study, as he is quiet, and goes through a photo album, and is silent, as he looks at pictures of Leigh, and the family, as the phone rings. Xavier picks it up, as Ava's on the other line, and she asks her Brother "So how are things holding at home?" Xavier tells his Sister, who's staying in Unity, with Winston, as nobody besides Xavier, Beth, Bobby, Ciarra, Tenny, Aretha, and Sayyid knows that they are alive, tells her "I think it's time you and Winston return to Adam's Landing. Angelica's going for broke, and it's time she's stopped. I already have one thing I'm holding over her at the moment, but we need to tell Frank, and the rest of the family that you're alive." Ava responds "I think so too, but this has taken a toll on Winston. Xavier I'm concerned about him." Xavier takes a deep breath, and assures her "Winston has nothing to worry about." Ava takes a deep breath, and sighs "I hope you're right." Ava hangs up, as she sits in a hospital room at Unity General, as Winston tells his Wife "I'm ready to go home Ava." Ava looks at her Husband, and sighs "Not until you are well." Winston looks at Ava, and tells her "Angelica may just get her wish, so let me go face that bitch." Ava rolls her eyes, and sighs "You are one stubborn old man." Winston tells her "That's why we make such a great couple Ava." Ava calls the Doctor inside, as Dr.Casey Ryan walks inside, and Ava tells her "My Husband's going home. Call City Hospital, and do what you need to do." Casey sighs, and tells Ava "Mrs.Love, you can't take him out of here, he may not make it with his weak state." Ava assures Casey "Oh he will." Casey looks at Winston, and tells him "Well George Love, you're released, but check in with City Hospital. Stress isn't good for a man your age, and you need to slow down." Winston gets out of the hospital bed, as he gets dressed, and Ava tells Casey "He will be well taken care of when he gets home."
   Meanwhile at Tenny's Penthouse, Tenny sits in her living room, as Allan sits on the couch, as he and his Mother smokes a joint together, as Allan asks his Mother "Where's Nathan and Rose?" Tenny responds "Partying, with people. I'm doing my own kind of partying right here." Allan takes a toke, as he tells his Mother "I'm worried about him Mama." Tenny looks at her Son, and goes "He's been really busy lately since Eve's returned to Sugar Creek." Allan shakes his head, as he replies "It isn't that. I think running Nationwide Records has gotten to him. He's acting differently." Tenny responds "I've noticed nothing off with him Allan. Maybe you're worrying too much." Allan sighs "Maybe so Mama." Tenny takes a deep toke, and looks at her Son, and asks him "What's going on with you Allan? You've been acting strange lately yourself." Allan quickly responds, as he receives a text "I have to go. Allison and Cale have returned home from Southpoint Beach, and their mansion's finished." Tenny tells her Son "Give Allison a hug for me, and tell her I'll come by soon to visit." Allan nods, as he leaves, and Tenny gets up, as she heads into her bedroom, as Precious lays on her bed, and Tenny quips "Something's off with my Son. Something's off with my whole family."
   Across the hall, Gabriella sits inside with Ruthie, as Sully returns home, with Jared, as he's in a wheelchair, after his spinal injury after the Northbrook Center implosion, and Gabriella holds Ruthie, and asks her Son and Daughter in law, as Sully holds her Daughter "How did therapy go?" Jared looks at his Mother, and snaps "You're a psychic! You should know Mom!" Gabriella assures Jared "You will walk again, I know it." Sully also reminds her Husband "Dr.Martin did say you were gaining some feeling in your legs again." Jared yells "I'm getting tired of being confined to this damn wheelchair! It's driving me insane!" Sully wraps her arms around Jared, as Gabriella looks on, with sadness in her eyes, as she takes Ruthie to the nursery, as Jared cries "I hate living like this Sully. I'm a burden on you.." Sully sternly tells Jared "Stop with that talk right now! I love you, and you are not a burden on anyone. We'll get through this. Dr Martin has that operation lined up, and Grandma said it'd be successful." Jared cries "I hope so baby. I can't take this much more." Sully holds Jared, as he holds his Wife, and Jared cries on Sully's shoulder, as he's paralyzed from the waist down, with limited movement in his arms.
   At The Evans Home, Willie sits in the living room, as Rashad and Little Sidney sits with her, as she sighs "Your Mama must really be enjoying herself. It's quiet around here." Rashad quips "She's gotten close to that man she's seeing." Willie looks at Rashad and asks "Have you met him?" Rashad responds "Nope. She's keeping it quiet." Willie is quiet, as she sighs "With Eve back in Sugar Creek, it's very quiet around here." Rashad asks his Grandmother "Where's Uncle Clem?" Willie points at the door, and quips "Notice the briefcase?" Rashad rolls his eyes, as he goes "Ahh." Willie looks at Rashad and tells him "Take Little Sidney upstairs, and I'll pull my cards out for a game of blackjack." Rashad looks at his Grandmother, and Willie tells him "Don't get superstitious. I just want to play a game of cards." Rashad takes his Son upstairs to the nursery, as Willie calls Terrance, who's at Jazz with Cass, and asks her Son "Have you met this guy Aretha's seeing yet?" Terrance responds "No." Willie tells her Son "Well, have fun." Willie hangs up the phone. Meanwhile, in a suite at The Sunset Club, Aretha lays in bed, as she goes "That was fun. A perfect way to ring in the new year." Aretha's boyfriend, Phillip Mitchell, responds "It is." Phillip kisses Aretha, and Aretha tells him "I'm ready to take our relationship to the next level." Phillip responds "I don't think it's time yet." Aretha looks at Phillip, with suspicion, as Phillip reminds Aretha "I just don't want to rush things. Isn't that what you want also?" Aretha takes a deep breath, and kisses Phillip, and tells him "I guess." They passionately kiss, as they make love in his suite.
   At The Farm, Frank sits inside the Greenhouse, as he looks at his Mother's urn, and says quietly "It's different without you Mama." Frank sits quietly, as Cale and Allison walks inside, and Cale says "Dad." Frank turns around, and hugs his Son and Daughter In Law, as they've returned home, and Frank quips to Allison "Looks like it won't be long now." Allison laughs "I hope it's soon." Frank smiles, as he asks them "When did the two of you return?" Allison tells her Father In Law "Just a few hours ago. We headed to the new house now that it's completely finished." Frank smiles "Uncle Floyd did the rest himself before heading to Texas." Cale asks "When is he returning?" Frank responds "He and Ciarra should be back now. Mama wanted her ashes to be at his ranch out there. And Ciarra's got some help with Emery's." Cale sighs "It's hard to believe Aunt Ava's gone." Frank grows distant, as he tells his Son and Daughter In Law "The two of you head home. I am ready for 2014." Cale and Allison hugs Frank, as they head to their new home, as Frank looks at his Mother's urn, and looks up, and tears fall from his eyes, as he cries "I'm the last one left."
   Meanwhile at City Hospital, Beth returns to her office, as Bobby awaits, and Beth tells him "It was Rachel. Must be lonely to be a gold digging whore, who has nobody." Bobby rolls his eyes, and tells her "Let's head to my place." Beth smiles, as she turns out the light in her office and she and Bobby heads to his Home. At Hell Hill, Xavier walks out of his study, as Samantha sits downstairs and tells him "Gracie and Xavier Jr are asleep." Xavier tells Samantha "That's good. I'm going to bed myself." Xavier heads upstairs, as Samantha heads across the road to Floyd and Ciarra's home at Whispering Hills, as they have returned from Texas, and the locks are changed, and Ciarra tells her Husband "What in the hell?" Floyd looks down the driveway, as he sees lights on at Ava's Estate, and tells his Wife "I'm not scared of her." Inside Ava's Estate at Whispering Hills, Angelica Hale walks around, and smiles, as she quips "Well well. This is a hell of a lot nicer than Northbrook ever was. Winston, you should have paid closer attention." Angelica pours herself a drink, and sees a picture of Winston and Ava, and throws it into the fireplace, as she looks outside, and says "I think I want my own store. Class." Angelica smiles with evil in her eyes, as she looks outside, and laughs, as Floyd and Ciarra heads off, and quips "It's mine now." Angelica turns around, as her phone rings, and Clayton warns his Mother "Prepare yourself." Angelica asks "What do you mean?" Clayton tells her, and Angelica screams in anger, as she throws the phone across the room." Clayton, meanwhile at Jazz, watches the New Year ring in, as does Terrance and Cass, as Clayton sneaks out, and makes a phone call to Wallace, and doesn't get no response. At Tenny's Penthouse, Nathan and Rose return from his office at Nationwide Records, as both are high, and Nathan asks Rose "Is Grandma asleep?" Rose responds in a dazed tone "It's quiet." Nathan sighs "Good." Nathan pulls out a bag of cocaine, and cuts it, and mixes it with marijuana, and rolls some blunts, and tells Rose "Keep your eye on Grandma's door." Rose warns him "This is a bad idea." Nathan snaps "I have enough to deal with! So either you're with me or without me!" Meanwhile Olivia returns to her Home, and yells for Allan, and gets no response, as she receives a message from Allison, and Olivia smiles for a moment, as she calls Allan, and gets no answer. At The Sunset Club, Allan stands inside Rachel's room, as she warns him "I don't give a damn about you and Auntie Olivia. You best keep me comfortable, or I'll ruin things for you." Rachel holds a disc in her hand, and Allan hands Rachel some money, and warns her "You were the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life."
